PAINTING

Design Color and Form

session 3 –

July 1, 2024 – July 12, 2024

Choosing painting to describe form, particularly when done from a naturalist reflection, is a highly complex challenge that requires the strongest bond between painter and materials. The election of which colors are going to make up one’s palette is the most transcendental decision that a painter takes.

Instructor

This workshop is going to first concentrate on how the relations generated within the palette whilst painting have the potential to amplify the specific intention behind the goal of representation.

In the first week, we will initially work on daily, specific exercises while painting from a life model, each one based on the color relationships that are generated in each palette type.

In the second week, applying the knowledge gained from the week before, we will concentrate on exercises emphasizing composition and design, by either controlling or pushing value, hue and saturation.

The goal is to bring the painter closer to identifying and generating a solid dynamic between perception, intention and interpretation through painting, never leaving behind the fundamentals of drawing.
