An exceptional figure drawing is the outcome of profound comprehension, thoughtful design, and skillful execution. In my career as a drawing teacher I have spent countless hours drawing and learning about this subject. What I will transmit to you in this workshop is the best concepts and lessons that have been passed down to me by my teachers, and the most effective exercises I have utilized in my career as an instructor.
 
In this workshop, you will become acquainted with each phase of creating a figure drawing, from the ground up. Starting with rudimentary exercises, the course will guide you through a sequence of projects tailored to equip you with the skills needed to produce a resolved and artistic final figure drawing. Here’s an overview of the subjects we’ll delve into:
 
  • Preparing and stretching your drawing paper
  • Techniques for effective live model drawing
  • Understanding body proportions and basic anatomical structures
  • Fundamentals of graphite drawing techniques
  • The skeletal framework and muscular anatomy of the human body
  • Analytical look at compositions in great paintings and sculptures
  • Mastery over organizing shadows and light in your drawings

WHAT IS THE REQUIRED SKILL LEVEL FOR THIS WORKSHOP?

All levels are welcome. Some basic life drawing experience is helpful.

HOW MANY HOURS DO WE SPEND EACH DAY IN THE STUDIO?

We will be in the studio approximately 5-6 hours. In addition to the time in the studio we will be going to look at some of the amazing art around Rome together.
